From Shumen, Bulgaria to Florida - a family story
Every translation company has a founding date. Ours has a founding story - and it starts behind a typewriter in 1991.
1991: a family office in Shumen
On January 20, 1991, our family opened a small office in Shumen, Bulgaria, preparing official documents for the regional passport authority. Passports, certificates, immigration paperwork - the documents we certify today are the very ones we started with, translated on a typewriter.
Why “EKO 4”?
The number 4 stands for the four interrelated professional services the family brought under one roof: translation, document legalization, multilingual marketing and multilingual business solutions. One office, every language need covered.
Why EKO, not ECO?
A translator’s detail from day one: in countries that use the Cyrillic alphabet, the letter C reads as S - so “ECO” would be read as “ESO”. We spelled it EKO so the brand reads the same in every alphabet. Precision in a single letter - the same standard we apply to every document.
One office, then the world
In 2006 the next generation of the family joined the business, and by 2015 it had grown into four countries, with international operations established in England. In 2018 the brand was re-established and modernized in Florida - the same family standards, now serving the whole state.
