Your divorce decree, translated and certified — proof your previous marriage ended, accepted everywhere

Whenever you or your spouse were married before, USCIS asks for evidence that the earlier marriage legally ended — and if that divorce happened abroad, the decree must come with a certified English translation. EKO 4 delivers it to USCIS requirements: complete and word for word, translated by a sworn human translator, with a signed certificate of translation accuracy on official letterhead and our wet stamp — backed by our 100% acceptance guarantee.

Divorce documents vary more than any other civil record: a one-page divorce certificate in one country, a full court judgment with custody and property clauses in another. We translate exactly what your receiver needs — every court seal, case number and judge’s signature included — and a native-speaking proofreader reviews every page before certification. Since 1991 we strive to be the most affordable, the most accurate, providing the best quality of service, with express 24-hour delivery from any of our 72 languages.

What USCIS requires from a divorce-decree translation

The rules (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)) treat a foreign divorce decree like any civil document — every certified translation we deliver meets them all:

  • A complete, word-for-word English translation — every page of the decree or judgment — court seals, stamps, case numbers, the judge’s signature block and any handwritten endorsements — nothing summarized, nothing skipped.
  • The translator’s signed certification — a statement that the translator is competent in both languages and that the translation is accurate and complete, with name, signature, address and date.
  • An independent, professional translator — you cannot translate your own decree for USCIS, and neither can a family member — the translator must be an impartial third party.
  • A legible copy of the original attached — the translation is submitted together with a copy of your decree — keep your original court document safe.
  • Notarization only when the receiver asks — USCIS itself does not require notarization — the certification statement is enough. Marriage-license offices, consulates and some courts do; we add it in the same order when needed.

How it works

1

Send a photo or scan

Upload your decree through the free estimate form or the online order wizard — clear phone photos of each page are enough. Never mail your original court document.

2

Get a free exact quote

Divorce decrees range from a single certificate to a multi-page judgment — we confirm the page count, price and deadline before you pay anything.

3

Sworn translation & certification

An accredited translator translates it word for word, a native proofreader reviews it, and we attach the signed certificate of accuracy.

4

Delivery your way

Digital copy by email — as fast as 24 hours — plus a physical copy with wet stamps by mail or office pickup.

Need it official? One order covers it

Certification, notarization and apostille — the whole legalization chain handled in-house, in the same online order.

Divorce-decree translation — questions & answers

1Is your divorce-decree translation accepted by USCIS?
Yes. Whenever a petition involves a prior marriage, USCIS requires proof it ended — and a foreign decree must arrive as a complete, word-for-word certified translation under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3). Ours comes with the translator’s signed certification of accuracy and competence and is backed by our 100% acceptance guarantee.
2I have a divorce certificate, not the full decree — which one do you translate?
Whichever your receiver asks for. USCIS usually wants the final decree or judgment; marriage-license offices and foreign registries often accept the shorter divorce certificate. We translate both — send us what you have and we will tell you for free whether it is the right document before you order.
3My decree is many pages — do all of them need translation?
For USCIS, generally yes: the regulation asks for a complete translation of the document you submit. Some receivers accept only the operative part of the judgment — if yours does, we translate exactly those pages. Either way you get an exact free quote from your scan before paying anything.
4I took my maiden name back — will the translation show that?
Yes. Name-restoration clauses are translated word for word, which is precisely what the Social Security Administration, the DMV and passport offices need to update your records after a divorce.
5How fast can you translate my divorce decree?
Express 24-hour service is available, and shorter decrees are often ready the same day. Notarization can be added by the next business day, and an apostille as fast as 4 business days — all handled in the same order.
